Courtesy of winning ten out of 14 matches in the ongoing IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans once again managed to qualify for the playoffs. Next up, the Hardik Pandya-led side will be taking on four-time champions Chennai Super Kings and the winner of that match will qualify for the all-important finale, which is slated to take place on May 28 in Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, ahead of taking on the MS Dhoni-led side, Gujarat Titans’ star batter Shubman Gill is fairly confident of their chances to win against CSK. The 23-year-old believes that the team has perfect bowlers for the conditions in MA Chidambaram Stadium and thus, they can make it to their consecutive finals in the competition.

“It's going to be an exciting one, playing against Chennai in Chennai. We have got a great bowling attack for that wicket in particular and hopefully, we'll make it to the final for the second time,” Gill said after a terrific century against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

GT’s record and Gill’s form will boost the team’s morale

In three matches so far, the defending champions have never lost to Chennai Super Kings in the competition. This staggering record will definitely boost GT’s confidence ahead of Qualifier 1 and on top of that, their opener Shubman Gill is in remarkable form at the moment. The Punjab-born cricketer has amassed 680 runs in 14 matches so far in the competition and with that, he is currently second in the IPL Orange Cap race.

He scored two back-to-back centuries in the tournament and thus, will be high on confidence ahead of taking on Chennai. GT’s bowling too looks more or less sorted. In Chepauk, where the pitch is getting slower with each passing match, players like Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad can create havoc. Rashid in particular has picked up 24 wickets in 14 matches so far and with that, he is second in the IPL Purple Cap race while his teammate Mohammed Shami is topping the charts at the moment. Thus, overall the team looks properly balanced ahead of the marquee clash.
