Amidst the thrill and excitement of the ongoing Ashes series for men, the women's cricket teams of both England and Australia are all set to clash in the Women's Ashes on Thursday, June 22, in Nottingham. The Test match will be a solitary contest. In the same vein, the England Women's captain, Heather Knight, shared her views on the iconic event. Knight wants her team to rise to the big occasion on a personal note, which could inspire the newer generation ahead.

Notably, the two teams will be playing a multi-format series which will commence with a solitary Test at Trent Bridge. Fascinatingly enough, around 15,000 tickets have already been sold out in past five days. Hence on the eve of the game, Heather Knight reminded her team of the England football side, who went on to win the coveted Euro 2022 tournament and want her players to follow in that path of glory but on the 22 yards.

It is incredible to imagine that the Australia Women's team have shown complete dominance in all the major tournaments over the past few years. And when it comes to the 'Urn', the Australian side have not lost to the English Women last seven years. Moreover, they also won the ODI Cricket World Cup at home, along with bagging the Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games conducted last year.

Albeit, despite these facts, Heather Knight seems quite unfazed and hoped for the best for her side.

“One of our mantras is to entertain and inspire. In the women’s game, we take it quite personally that we want to promote the game in the right way, get people behind us and inspire them. It’s super special and it’s set up to be a really amazing Ashes series that’s probably going to be the most visible series outside of World Cups that we’ve ever had. We’re keen to try and maximise that," Knight was quoted as saying by the Belfast Telegraph.

Furthermore, Heather Knight believes that beating Australia Women at this juncture will be something really special as he looks forward to what the Lionesses achieved last summer and want to emulate the same. Consequently, this will bring the whole country together to redefine women's sports.

“Women’s sport is just in such an amazing place in the country in the moment and we want to be a part of that. What the Lionesses did last summer, we loved watching it and want to be a part of that. We know we’re up against a very good Australian team but we’ve got the opportunity to do something special and part of that is bringing the country with us on that journey,” Knight concluded.
