Mehidy Hasan Miraz said that Bangladesh's maiden ODI series victory over Australia was a special achievement. Before this series, Bangladesh had won only three of their 25 ODIs against Australia and had waited 21 years for a victory over them, which finally came in the opening match of the series.
Bangladesh then scripted history by securing their first-ever ODI series win against Australia, clinching the second match via the DLS method. Australia, however, held their nerve in the third ODI and crossed the line by one wicket to avoid a series whitewash, as Bangladesh completed a memorable 2-1 series triumph.
"Obviously, this is incredibly special because we had never won a series against Australia before. We won a single match back in 2005 (in Cardiff) and I was very young then and remember watching it on TV. Winning an entire series against them today is a massive milestone for Bangladesh. But the biggest achievement of all is hearing the Australian players actively praise our cricket and our team," said Mehidy as quoted by Cricbuzz.
"Overall, I am very satisfied. These are exactly the things that feel good as a captain. Playing well against a team like Australia is a huge opportunity. The fact that they are praising us, talking positively about our cricket, our bowlers and our batsmen, and that we earned their respect by giving them a tough time is a clear sign of our improvement. If we can continue like this, we will evolve into a very strong team," he added.

The Bangladesh captain praised Shoriful Islam for taking the game deep after being preferred over Nahid Rana. Shoriful delivered an outstanding performance with the ball, returning figures of 6 for 48 in his 10 overs, including one maiden.
"As for Shoriful, he obviously bowled exceptionally well. A match like this is very difficult for a player who is in and out of the side, yet he performed. He bowled well in the last series and did the same today. I think our entire bowling unit has a real hunger. Whenever someone gets an opportunity, they try to make a comeback and contribute to the team. This is a very positive sign, and having such a bowling unit provides a great opportunity to win matches,” said Mehidy.
“You saw Rana bowl well early on. Shoriful wasn't getting chances, but he proved himself by showing he can take wickets in crucial situations. This competition exists in every position and I think this internal competition is excellent for the team. Having the hunger to perform is crucial for consistency, and every player in the squad has that hunger right now," he added.
