The 2022 Women's Asia Cup T20 final served up a familiar result as India, for a record seventh time, cliched the continental title by dispatching a hapless Sri Lankan outfit. India rode off Smriti Mandhana's trailblazing half-century to get over the line by eight wickets in a one-sided finale.

The Sri Lankan team led by Chamari Athapaththu were seeking a maiden Asia Cup triumph, but their hopes were short-lived as Renuka Singh ran out the Sri Lankan skipper via a bullet throw. The islanders then lost three wickets in three deliveries in the next over to capitulate under intense pressure from the Indians.

Sri Lanka never recovered from those telling blows and manage to scrape to a below-par total of 65 runs in their designated 20 overs. Renuka Singh was the star of the show with three-wicket to her name, while Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Sneh Rana backed the talented pacer with two wickets each.

The result seemed like a foregone conclusion at the halfway stage and India's blistering start in the second innings put it beyond any doubt. Although Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues fell in quick succession, Smriti Mandhana was at her fluent best, registering a 25-ball half-century to guide India home to a routine victory.
