How did Semi-Final 2 of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 go between England Women and South Africa Women?
Hosts England Women have made it through to the showpiece final after securing a 40-run victory over South Africa in the semi-final at the Oval on Thursday, July 2. They will now take on six-time champions Australia for a fourth time in the Women's T20 World Cup final on Sunday at Lord's.
Proteas won the toss and elected to field first, making an excellent start to the proceedings, dismissing Amy Jones, Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Alice Capsey inside the first four overs. Returning skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt, along with her predecessor, Heather Knight, forged a 133-run partnership of 90 balls to take England to a respectable 169 runs from their 20 overs.
South Africa, in reply, never really got going and kept losing wickets at regular intervals after a strong start provided by openers Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits. The latter's half-century was the only score of note as the African outfit could manage only 129 runs, thanks to every single English bowler taking wickets.
