South Africa Women secured their third win at the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup when they defeated the Netherlands Women by a whopping 88 runs at the County Ground in Bristol on Thursday, June 27. They go level on points with second-placed India, with qualification to the knockout rounds still a possibility.
The Dutch outfit won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that proved wrong. South Africa went on to post 208 from their 20 overs, losing just one wicket in the process. Tazmin Brits was the star of the show, hitting an unbeaten century, with captain Laura Wolvaardt (45) and Annerie Dercksen (37 not out) providing her with the support from the other end.
The Netherlands, in reply, managed only 120 runs, losing eight wickets in the process. Phebe Molkenboer and Sanya Khurana gave them a solid start, putting on 58 runs together for the opening wicket, but they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, despite Sterre Kalis' fighting 26.
Best Batting Performance of the Match: Tazmin Brits
Brits, 35, scored her maiden T20I century against the Netherlands to help South Africa secure a comfortable victory. The right-handed batter hit an unbeaten 114 off just 69 balls to help her side register a winning total in the first innings. An innings comprising 15 fours and three sixes, the opening batter scored runs at a strike-rate of 165.22 to mesmerise the Bristol crowd in attendance.
Best Bowling Performance of the Match: Ayabonga Khaka
The experienced Ayabonga Khaka was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa, as they remained in total control of the tie against the Netherlands. The 33-year-old took three wickets whilst conceding runs at just 6.33 per over in her three-over spell. She took the all-important wicket of captain Babette de Leede, making sure the Dutch have no room to make an unlikely comeback.
