South Africa international Keshav Maharaj missed the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya due to the ongoing second edition of the SA20. A day prior to the event, Maharaj extended his prayers and wished for peace and harmony in the country. However, he aims to visit the temple soon and expects Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants to arrange a trip for his family. Maharaj leads Durban Super Giants in the ongoing SA20, LSG's sister franchise.

The 33-year-old added that he along with his family always had the desire to go on a pilgrimage to India and plans to visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya soon.

“Unfortunately, the schedule didn't allow me to visit during the inauguration of the temple. But in the future, I would definitely love to go and see the temple in Ayodhya,” Maharaj told Sports Tak.

“Fingers crossed. Maybe in the future, we can arrange for that. Maybe the Lucknow franchise can help. My family has always wanted to go on a pilgrimage to India. So maybe it will be a nice family trip to go across to Ayodhya,” he added.

I am a staunch devotee of Lord Hanuman and Lord Ram: Maharaj

Maharaj recently revealed that he requested the DJ to play ‘Ram Siya Ram’ during South Africa’s recent series against India. The cricketer called himself a staunch devotee of Lord Hanuman and Lord Ram and added that god has given me perspective and guidance to excel in his career.

“My faith in god is very staunch. I always believe that god has given me perspective and guidance and put me in situation where I am today. I am always grateful and give thanks. I am a staunch devotee of Lord Hanuman and Lord Ram.

“So it's the least I can do to say thank you and get me in my zone and make me focused through hearing 'Ram Siya Ram' play in the background. So I sent the request through to the DJ and I am very fortunate that he could play the song for me when I entered,” he added.
