WPL 2023: Brabourne Stadium gets sold out for final of inaugural season

The inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 has exceeded expectations. Ever since the start of the tournament, fans have been buzzing with excitement to see the world’s best women cricketers take on each other in the T20 extravaganza.

With the group stage of the competition finally getting concluded, the qualified teams will be keen on performing well in the playoffs and eventually making it to the summit clash of the competition. Out of the five teams, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women and Gujarat Giants are the two teams that were eliminated from the group stages of the inaugural WPL.

Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and UP Warriorz, on the other hand, made it to the playoffs after finishing in the top three of the standings. With the final of the tournament scheduled for March 26, the summit clash of the competition will be held at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, and as per The Bridge, the tickets for the final have already been sold out.

The tickers went live on Tuesday, March 22, and are already reported as sold out. Despite the fact that women were given free entry into the stadium for the WPL matches, the same is not the case for the final. The BCCI has charged INR 250 for the tickets to the tournament finals.

Delhi Capitals top the WPL points table

After Mumbai Indians’ early dominance in the tournament, two back-to-back losses in the tournament saw them miss out on the number 1 spot in the WPL standings. 

After the end of the group stage, the Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals topped the points table with 12 points in eight games. Although they were tied on points with MI, they moved ahead due to the superior net run rate.

DC have already booked their place in the final of the tournament whereas Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz will now take on each other and look to book their spot in the WPL final.
