India secured the T20I series after beating hosts Zimbabwe by 90 runs in the second T20I at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday, July 25. The Men in Blue have won their maiden series under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer with one game to spare.

Ishan Kishan's heroics with the bat took the visitors to 219 in the first innings, which was easily defended thanks to an excellent bowling display, particularly from part-timers like Abhishek Sharma, Shivam Dube and Tilak Varma.

ZIM vs IND: Talking Points

1. Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma get valuable runs under their belt

Both Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma were in desperate need of some runs heading into the series against Zimbabwe. The pair got their wish in the second T20I in Harare, with both scoring half-centuries. Kishan smashed 81 off 44 deliveries while Varma hit an unbeaten 60 from just 29 balls, striking at upwards of 200.

2. Brian Bennett has potential to become a Zimbabwe great

It is no secret that Brian Bennett is the next Zimbabwean superstar. Today, he showcased his talents once again, hitting 32 runs off just 19 balls, smashing three fours and as many sixes before falling to Yash Thakur.

3. India finally win a T20I series under Shreyas Iyer

Riding on the bowling efforts of Abhishek Sharma, Prince Yadav and debutant Yash Thakur, India finally won a T20I series under their new captain Shreyas Iyer. This comes as a welcome change for the defending T20I champions after losing series to Ireland and England without winning a game.

ZIM vs IND: Who Said What?

Sikandar Raza, Zimbabwe Captain:

"I thought the boys bowled well in patches, credit to India. Some the shots, some the skill from the Indians were something to admire. Our fielding could have been better. Ishan has done that quite regularly and consistently as well and he is going through that patch as well. Certainly something to learn from and hopefully it will help us become better. I as a captain have been letting the team down with the bat. I will try my best in the next game."

Shreyas Iyer, India Captain:

"I feel excited. Comprehensive win, brilliant contribution from each and everyone. Started from batting, I think the way Ishan and Tilak played was outstanding. I thought 180-200 would be par score but we ended up getting 220 which was the icing on the cake. That's how you have to approach the game, it's about the attitude. Be in the present and try to execute. One of our players got injured unfortunately so you might see a few changes tomorrow."

Ishan Kishan, Player of the Match:

"Obviously when you get runs for your team you end up getting a good total. I did not feel that the wicket was where you can just go and score runs. There was the odd bounce for few deliveries so we felt we needed partnerships. You don't have to think about wickets, past is past and just see what bowlers you can target. Very happy to see them, Mayank, Yash and Prince. They have great stories behind their success. Good to see them and have them around."
