India arrives in Harare following back-to-back bilateral T20I series defeats. India lost their opening T20 international to Ireland by 34 runs, marking Ireland's first-ever victory over the world champions after eight previous defeats. England dominated their series with a 4-0 whitewash, while Ireland secured a 2-0 victory. India have gone five consecutive T20Is without a win, their longest winless streak in the format.
The opening match begins on Thursday at 4:30 PM IST, with Zimbabwe seeking to capitalise on home advantage against a struggling Indian outfit looking to rebuild momentum in the shortest format.
Speaking about India, Sanju Samson has been left out of the squad after a string of underwhelming performances in the T20I series against Ireland and England, paving the way for 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to retain his place following his international debut.
Meanwhile, Mayank Yadav and Rinku Singh have earned recalls to the national setup. India have also handed maiden T20I call-ups to Prabhsimran Singh, Ashok Sharma, and Yash Thakur. Harsh Dubey, who recently represented the Men in Blue in the ODI series against Afghanistan, has received his maiden call-up to India's T20I squad.
