A stunning domestic cricket match in Zimbabwe produced one of the most unbelievable scorecards ever witnessed in the sport, as Scorpions Cricket Club piled up a jaw-dropping 822/4 in 50 overs against Methane Lions in a first-league encounter.
The game turned into complete batting carnage after Scorpions captain Praise Makaza won the toss and elected to bat first. What followed was an extraordinary display of aggressive batting that left the opposition bowlers helpless throughout the innings.
Opening batter Winged Mutende smashed a breathtaking 203 runs off just 75 deliveries at a staggering strike rate of 270.67. His explosive knock featured 23 boundaries and 13 sixes as he tore apart the bowling attack from the outset.

At the other end, Takunda Madembo produced an innings for the ages, hammering 302 runs off 143 balls. His marathon knock included an astonishing 50 fours and seven sixes before he eventually retired out after batting for 272 minutes. The opening pair laid the perfect foundation for an innings that kept rewriting records with every over.
The carnage continued in the middle order as Gabriel Jaya remained unbeaten on 110 off 49 balls at a strike rate of 224.49, while Vincent Moyo blasted 78 runs from just 39 deliveries. Overall, Scorpions scored at a remarkable run rate of 16.44 per over to finish with a scarcely believable total of 822/4.
In reply, Methane Lions completely crumbled under pressure and were reduced to just 28/7, handing Scorpions a record 794-run victory.
For comparison, the highest recognised List A total belongs to Bihar, who scored 574/6 against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Even famous totals such as Tamil Nadu’s 506/2 and England’s 498/4 against the Netherlands now appear modest in comparison to Scorpions Cricket Club’s astonishing batting masterclass.
The extraordinary match has now sparked widespread discussion among cricket fans worldwide, with many calling it one of the most unbelievable and surreal batting performances ever recorded in domestic cricket history.
