Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh gain in ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings

All-rounder Deepti Sharma has attained a career-best-equalling second position and seam bowler Renuka Thakur has inched towards her own career-best in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings after helping India score a 44-run victory over Bangladesh in the first match of their five-T20I series.

Sharma’s economical haul of one for 15 has helped her gain one spot and reach within 34 rating points of England spinner Sophie Ecclestone, who leads the table with 759 rating points. Singh’s match-winning effort of three for 18 has helped her gain four slots to reach fourth position, just one off the third position she had attained in October 2022.

Left-arm spinner Radha Yadav has moved up from 51st to 46th and Pooja Vastrakar from 41st to 38th in the bowling rankings while captain Harmanpreet Kaur (up two places to 17th) and wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh (up five places to 25th) have also made notable progress in the batting rankings.

Bangladesh players have some big gains with captain Nigar Sultana and young leg-spinner Rabeya Khan, achieving career-high rankings. Nigar’s knock of 51 has lifted her three places to 13th position among batters while Rabeya has moved up eight places to occupy eighth position with figures of three for 23 in Sylhet. New-ball bowler Marufa Akter has progressed 11 slots to the 32nd position.

In the Women’s ODI batting rankings, skipper Matthews has reached a career-best seventh position after scoring 141 in the final match of their ICC Women’s Championship series against Pakistan which the West Indies won 3-0. Matthews has also moved up one slot to sixth among bowlers.

Stephanie Taylor (up two places to 16th among batters) and Chinelle Henry (up seven places to 29th among bowlers) are others to move up the batting rankings for the West Indies while Pakistan’s Aliya Riyaz has progressed four places to 35th among batters.
