Legends Ranking System: Inaugural Legends ranking released

Legends Ranking today announced the list of top 10 senior batters, bowlers, and all-rounders. A unique ranking system catering to the legends of the game is powered by Wisden. Presently, Legends Ranking has considered Road Safety World Series 2020 & 2022, both seasons of Legends League Cricket, Sachin Blasters vs Warne Warriors – 2015, and the Masters Champion League 2016. 

More Leagues - Lanka Premier League, Nepal T20, and ILT20 that was played in UAE will be considered going ahead. 

The Legends Ranking system is a cumulative score based on the overall performance of a retired player in T20 tournaments. The ranking of each former player depends on the overall match score, overall individual score, and the number of wickets taken for each match.

The weightage has also been given, considering whom they are playing against and their overall performance. Other important factors and attributes include the strike rate and average of a player, along with the opponent's performance and their team's overall performance throughout the tournament.

Nuwan Kulasekara – Former Sri Lankan cricketer– on Legends Ranking said, “The rankings have always been important even when we played for our country,and as retired and senior cricketers, I personally feel that this will be a huge motivation for all the senior cricketers to go and perform on the field while taking care of their fitness level at the same time.” 

Tillakaratne Dilshan – Former Sri Lankan cricketer said, “It feels great when you are playing with the Legends of the cricket and your name appears on the number one as a batsman and as an all-rounder. This is a huge motivation for me and I am really enjoying this feeling.”

Legends Ranking will also provide an excellent opportunity for viewers to witness their favourite cricketing legends in action, across tournaments and leagues and see them rising through the charts even after they have retired from international cricket.
