The final T20I of the five-match series between India and Australia will be a dead rubber, as the Alyssa Healy-led visiting side have already clinched the series. India leveled the series 1-1 after winning the second game in a thrilling super-over, but Australia bounced back to win the next two games and take a 3-1 lead.
The previous game too was a cut-throat encounter as India came close to winning the game in the final over while chasing the 189-run target set by the visitors. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur played a powerful innings and scored 46 off 30 deliveries while Devika Vaidya too showed her power-hitting prowess. In the end, Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma took the game to the final over but fell short of just seven runs.
The Women in Blue would now be looking for a positive closure to the series. Though they have lost the series, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side would be looking for a win in the final encounter to end it on a high note. Australia, on the other hand, would also be looking for a win so as to continue their dominance over India.
Australia suffered a major setback when skipper Alyssa Healy had to walk off the field midway in the fourth game after injuring her calf. Since there have been no updates on her recovery, she might as well miss out on the upcoming contest. Though there are no injury concerns in the Indian camp, they still need to work on their bowling to restrict Australia from putting up a humungous total
Pitch and Conditions
The Brabourne Stadium's pitch is considered as a good surface for batting and normally plays well throughout the entire game. The pitch occasionally gives a gradual turn that can be helpful to the spinners. It will be a treat for the batters because both Australia and India have amassed some impressive totals at this venue. Teams have triumphed here while chasing as well as defending, so the toss won't have a significant impact.
Probable Playing XI for IND-W vs AUS-W 5th T20I
India
Having lost the series, the upcoming contest will be a dead rubber for India. But looking at the performances put up by batters in the series, it will be a huge opportunity for Richa Ghosh and Shafali Verma who head to the U-19 Women’s World Cup next. India will likely stick with the same XI.
Probable Playing XI- Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Devika Vaidya, Richa Ghosh (wk), Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Anjali Sarvani, Harleen Deol/Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Renuka Singh Thakur
Australia
Even after a long break from cricket, Australia continued to show their dominance in the T20I format, and proved once again why they’re the World Champions. Even in the absence of skipper Meg Lanning, Alyssa Healy led the Australian side really well. But she injured her calf during the previous game and unfortunately is likely to sit out of the final contest. Tahlia McGrath will lead the side if Healy misses out.
Probable Playing XI: Beth Mooney (wk), Tahlia McGrath (c), Ashleigh Gardner, Ellyse Perry, Grace Harris, Phoebe Litchfield, Heather Graham, Annabel Sutherland, Alana King, Darcie Brown, Megan Schutt
