The exciting action will continue in the Indian Premier League season 16 as Sunrisers Hyderabad will lock horns with Punjab Kings in Match 14 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Punjab have been on a roll this season having won both of their encounters against Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals.

Led by a new captain Shikhar Dhawan, Punjab’s batters fired in both matches as they posted totals in excess of 190 both times. Their bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Nathan Ellis have been brilliant in the first and second games respectively and have looked potent so far.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad have had a forgettable campaign so far losing both of their matches against Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. Their star-studded batting failed in both matches so far as they could only score totals of 131 and 121 in the two innings.

Their bowlers were hammered for 203/5 in the first game against Rajasthan Royals as they failed to keep Jos Buttler quiet. However, they put up an improved performance in the second game on the slow track of Ekana Stadium but didn’t have enough runs to defend. SRH have a massive task to get their first win under the belt, especially against an in-form side such as Punjab.

Pitch and Conditions

Two T20Is have been played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium and both have been won by teams batting second. In the only match played at the venue so far in the tournament, Rajasthan Royals posted a massive 203/5 batting first. The ground has historically been a high scoring one and hence the captain winning the toss will look to bat first and post a huge total to bring the opposition under pressure.

SRH have plenty of problems for which they need to find answers as quickly as possible. Their batters need to fire at the top especially the experienced Mayank Agarwal, with Aiden Markram taking charge in the middle order. In the bowling department, Bhuvneshwar Kumar must pick wickets with the new ball with Rashid and Sundar coming in the middle overs.
