After two years of sheer hard work, two teams- India and Australia, managed to finish on top and made their way into the World Test Championship 2023 Final. The two sides will now square off at The Oval on June 7, Wednesday, for the ultimate Test with a common goal of becoming the world’s best Test side and clinching the Test mace.
The two sides very recently locked horns in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in India, as they played four Tests between February and March 2023. The Rohit Sharma-led side clinched the series 2-1, and will be hoping to pull off a similar victory in the upcoming one-off Test. But would it be that simple? Probably not, since the two teams will be playing in a neutral venue.
This will be the first time in the 140 years of Test cricket’s history, that The Oval will be hosting a red-ball game in the month of June. Hence, the two teams will face difficulty in understanding the conditions, since they won’t be aware of how the pitch will act. Nevertheless, their job would be to give their best and get the best out of every player involved.
India have three wins out of the last five games that the two sides have played of late in the longest format of their game. More than the Ashes, cricket fans will be eagerly waiting for the WTC Final to kick start as the rivalry between India and Australia has reached a new height. The audience is in for a rollercoaster ride and the contest surely will be mouthwatering.
Pitch and Conditions
The Oval has been a good scoring surface recently, and the world has witnesses interesting games at the venue. While assisting the batters, it also provides equal opportunities for the bowlers. The pacers get assistance early on before the focus shifts to the spinners.
