India put up a magnificent show against the No. 1 women's Test team in the world, as after bundling Australia for 219, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side dominated with the bat to gain a significant 157-run lead by the end of Day 2 of the one-off Test in Mumbai.

Opener Smriti Mandhana rose to the occasion and scored 74 while Jemimah Rodrigues supported her well with 73. Debutant Richa Ghosh, who often plays an aggressive brand of cricket in white-ball cricket, took some time to settle down, scoring a patient 52 off 104. However, India could not have taken such a huge lead if it was not for Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar.

The duo dominated with the ball in the first innings and then pushed Australia on the backfoot with the bat as well. Deepti scored a cracking half-century and remained unbeaten on 70 off 147 while Pooja stood unbeaten on 33 at he end of Day 2.

For Australia, Ashleigh Gardner was impressive as the 26-year-old picked four wickets while Kim Garth and Jess Jonassen picked one wicket each. However, the visiting team will have to be much better to get back into the match as they looked ordinary for the majority part of the second day.

Skipper Alyssa Healy, who does not have a lot of experience of leading the side, would also want to lead from the front to stop India from walking away with the win. As for India, their spinners will have to be effective in the third innings as they would not want to give Australia any room to make a comeback.
