The Hundred Women's 2022, Match 22 Review: Naomi Dattani, Grace Scrivens guide London Spirit to hard-fought victory over Birmingham Pheonix

London Spirit  picked up a comprehensive victory against Birmingham Pheonix in Match 22 of the Hundred Women’s 2022 tournament at the Lords. With the victory, the London Spirit have finished their campaign with two wins in six games while Birmingham Pheonix are at the fourth position with three wins in six games. 

Earlier in the game, London Spirit opted to bowl first after winning the toss and the Birmingham Pheonix were off to a horrific start, losing four wickets for just 32 runs on the board. Evelyn Jones and Georgia Elwiss tried to stitch a partnership. However, the recovery was halted with the wicket of Elwiss for 14. None of the other batters could get going with the innings, while Jones was the top scorer for her side with a 30-ball 24. 

At the end, the Birmingham side was bundled up for a total of 82 in 94 balls in their innings. Megan Schutt, Amelia Kerr, and Danielle Gibson, all picked up two wickets each while Freya Davies and Grave Scrivens picked up one wicket each for the London Spirit. 

Naomi Dattani bails London Spirit out after early wickets

Chasing a relatively easier target, the London Spirit suffered a lot of hiccups with 26 for 6 at the early stages of the run chase. They needed a partnership desperately to stitch things up and the likes of Naomi Dattani and Scrivens ensured wickets did not fall after that. The duo added 57 runs for the seventh wicket and played sensible knocks to take their side over the line. 

Dattani remained unbeaten on 28 off 29 balls while Scrivens scored 26 off 30 balls for the London Spirit in a tough situation. As the duo held on to their nerves, the London-based side recorded a four-wicket victory. . Emily Arlott was the pick of the bowlers for Birmingham Pheonix with 2/9 in her 20 balls while Molineux, Elwiss and Fackrell picked up a wicket each.
