IND vs BAN 2024: Ravindra Jadeja second-fastest to Test double of 3000 runs and 300 wickets

Ravindra Jadeja took his 300th Test wicket on Day 4 of the second Test between India and Bangladesh at Green Park, Kanpur on Monday, September 30.

The Saurashtra all-rounder has already scored 3122 runs in his Test career. On Monday, he took the final Bangladesh wicket to fall in the first innings. Bangladeshi pacer Khaled Ahmed got a leading edge in his attempt to play across the line and ended up giving a simple return catch to Jadeja. This was his 300th Test wicket as the veteran entered an illustrious club of players who have scored a minimum of 3000 runs also taken at least 300 wickets.

Jadeja, in fact, is the second-fastest to the landmark, getting their in his 74th Test appearance. Meanwhile, legendary all-rounder Ian Botham holds the record for getting there the quickest. The cricketer-turned-commentator got to his milestone during his 74th Test match.

India make intentions clear as they put Bangladesh bowlers to sword

India bowled out Bangladesh for 233 after Jasprit Bumrah led the way with a three-for. Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin and Akash Deep also picked up two wickets apiece. Mominul Haque remained unbeaten on 107 off 194 balls, scoring a Test century after 474 days.

With not much time left, India decided to try and force a result as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma got the home side off to a scintillating start. The opening pair added 55 runs off just 24 balls before the Indian skipper departed for an 11-ball 23. Yashasvi continued tormenting the Bangladeshi bowlers en route to a 51-ball 72.
