India vs Afghanistan, 2nd T20I Stats Review: Shivam Dube's heroics, Rohit Sharma's Unwanted Records, Jaiswal's power-hitting and Other Stats

In the second match of the series, Shivam Dube's all-round heroics (63* and 1 wicket) and Yashasvi Jaiswal's power-hitting knock (68) led India to a comfortable 6-wicket win over Afghanistan. After winning the toss, India opted to field first. Rahmanullah Gurbaz started swiftly but was dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi for 14 runs, while his partner and captain, Ibrahim Zadran, fell early, as he was bowled by Axar Patel for just 8 runs. Shivam Dube bowled Omarzai for 2 runs, and Nabi, scoring 14 runs in 18 balls, was dismissed by Bishnoi.

Gulbadin Naib, promoted in the order, played a commendable innings, scoring 57 runs in 35 balls, but Axar Patel took his wicket. Mujeeb ur Rahman's cameo added 21 runs in 9 balls, helping Afghanistan reach a total of 172/10 in 20 overs. Arshdeep took a 3-wicket haul, while Axar and Ravi Bishnoi claimed 2 wickets each. All-rounder Shivam Dube too secured one wicket during his bowling spell.

In response, Team India lost wickets early as Rohit Sharma was bowled and departed for a duck in consecutive innings. Virat Kohli, making a T20I comeback after 429 days, played a classy inning, scoring 29 runs in 16 balls before being dismissed by Naveen-ul-Haq. Shivam Dube, the hero from the previous match, continued his good form with another half-century, remaining unbeaten on 63 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased his power-hitting, as he scored 68 runs in 34 balls at a strike rate of 200, but Karim Janat dismissed him and Jitesh Sharma. Rinku Singh came in to finish the match with Shivam Dube, and India sealed the victory by 6 wickets, securing a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. For his economical bowling performance, Axar Patel earned the Player of the Match award.

150 - Rohit Sharma is the first player to play or appear in 150 T20 International matches.

57 - Gulbadin Naib(57) registered his highest individual score in his T20I.

4 - Rohit Sharma (60) shared the joint fourth-most catches as a fielder in T20 Internationals with Tim Southee (60). The other three players who have achieved the feat are:
       

       77 - David Miller
       68 - Martin Guptill
       61 - George Dockrell

2 - Gulbadin Naib (57) registered the second-highest score in an innings against India in T20Is. The highest score was by Ibrahim Zardan 64*) in 2022, in Dubai.

200 - Left-arm orthodox spinner Axar Patel completed 200 wickets in T20s.

2 - Rohit Sharma(12) registered second most ducks in T20I matches. The record for the most number of Ducks is held by Ireland's Paul Stirling (13).

2 - Rohit Sharma(10) also registered second most ducks in T20I matches as an openers. Yet again Paul Stirling(13) as an opener features in this unwanted list.

1 - Rohit Sharma(12) registered most duck in T20Is among Full Member sides.

69 - India registered their highest powerplay score against Afghanistan in T20Is.

3 - Shivam Dube(22 balls) smashed third fastest half-century against Afghanistan in T20Is. The other two players are:
      17 balls- Paul Stirling in 2012
      21 balls- Sean Williams in 2015

1 - Shivam Dube (63*) registered his highest individual score in T20Is.
