India, after having won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth time straight, will lock horns with Australia in a three-match ODI series which is set to kick-off on March 17th at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The second ODI will be played on 19th March at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam and the third ODI will be played on March 22nd at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
India looked solid in 2023 as far as ODI is concerned, having won all six games played against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. They would be looking to carry the winning momentum ahead and will be testing the bench strength as a preparation for the World Cup to be held later this year.
India will be without the services of Shreyas Iyer who has been ruled out due to injury, and regular skipper Rohit Sharma, who would be missing the first game due to family commitments. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya is expected to lead the Indian side.
Australia, on the other hand, would be missing the services of full-time skipper Pat Cummins who is home due to personal reasons. Steve Smith is expected to lead the Aussies in the absence of Cummins. They would be playing their first ODI of 2023 and would await the return of their regular star players, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh and David Warner.
As far as ODI is concerned, Australia has an upper hand over India with 80 wins to 53 losses. Both the teams will be looking at this series as a good practice ahead of the upcoming ODI world cup.
