Day 3 entirely belonged to team India, as it batted convincingly and managed to put up 400 runs on the board and Australia were behind by 223 runs after India got bowled out in the first innings.  Axar Patel led the lower-middle order batting by notching up his second half-century in Tests, he alongside Ravindra Jadeja added 88 runs for 8th wicket making sure India are in the driver's seat.

Australia were bundled out for 91 runs in the second innings with India’s spinners making the pitch look intimidating. Ravichandran Ashwin was the chief protagonist on Day 3 for India, as he registered his 31st fifer to seal a big win for India.

India go 1-0 up in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and are two wins away from clinching the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
