A topsy-turvy day of Test cricket ended in favour of Australia as they lead India by 62 runs with nine wickets in hand ahead of Day 3 of the second Test match in Delhi.

Speaking about how the day panned out, the Indian top order succumbed to Nathan Lyon’s spin dominance as they were left reeling at 66/4. However, the duo of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja added valuable 59 runs for the fifth wicket with a cautious batting display.

Todd Murphy did the damage, as he broke the good-going partnership by trapping Jadeja in front of the stumps and from there India lost quick wickets as they were reduced to 139/7. Yet again the lower middle order chipped in with handy contributions from the likes of Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin.

The duo added 114 runs for the eighth wicket helping India reduce the deficit to one run. Patel registered his third Test fifty in grand fashion. For Australia, Nathan Lyon was the pick of the bowlers for his spell of 5/67.

Australia started the second innings with aggression as they took on Ashwin and Jadeja, but lost the wicket of the first innings star Usman Khawaja. Australia scored 61/1 in 12 overs at the close of Day 2.
