Zak Crawley smashed yet another half-century while the lower-order also chipped in with some useful runs but it wasn’t enough as England lost the second Test match against India by a margin of 106 runs on Day 4 in Visakhapatnam. Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets apiece as India bundled out England for 292 to also level the five-match series 1-1.
Speaking about how the day unfolded, Crawley continued his good form as he scored 73 off 132 with eight fours and a maximum. Ollie Pope and Joe Root scored 23 and 16 runs respectively while Jonny Bairstow was dismissed for 26 off 36. Skipper Ben Stokes made 11 while Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley racked up 36 runs each.
The duo tried hard to get their side over the line but the target proved too much for the visitors as they fell short by over 100 runs. Mukesh Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel also bagged a wicket each as Team India bounced back in style after their disappointing defeat in the opening Test in Hyderabad. For his match figures of 9/91, speedster Bumrah won the Player of the Match award. The action now moves to Rajkot where both sides will lock horns after a long ten-day break as the third Test begins on Thursday, February 15.
