India vs New Zealand 1st T20I Stats Preview: Players records and approaching milestones
India head as favourites into the three-match T20I series against the Black Caps.

The no. one ranked T20I team in the world, India, after having won the ODI series against New Zealand will now look to replicate the same in the upcoming T20I series. On the other hand, New Zealand will look to forget all the memories from the ODI series and would look to bounce back to the winning ways.
The action now moves to Ranchi, as India and New Zealand will lock horns in the shortest format. India will face New Zealand in the first of the three-match T20I series on Friday, January 27 at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi.
Both teams have fared pretty well in T20Is since 2022. India have won 30 out of the 43 matches they have played and New Zealand have won 15 out of the 22 games they have played thus far.
For India, Suryakumar Yadav has been in sublime form with 1334 runs in 34 innings at an average of 49.40 in T20Is. He has also registered three centuries and ten half centuries. In the bowling department, Arshdeep Singh has been impressive with 36 scalps in 23 games.
For New Zealand, Glenn Phillips has been fabulous since 2022 scoring 716 runs at an average of 44.75 with six half centuries and one century to his name. In the bowling department, Ish Sodhi has been in prime form with 28 wickets in 22 games.
India will miss the services of senior players like Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma among others as they have been rested to manage their workload. Meanwhile, the Kiwis will miss the services of regular skipper Kane Williamson and bowling spearhead Tim Southee. Hardik Pandya and Mitchell Santner will be leading the sides in the absence of regular skippers.
