Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav held on the nerves in a tricky run-chase, as team India beat New Zealand by 6 wickets with two balls to spare in Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. India levelled the three match T20I series 1-1.

Speaking about how the game panned out, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat on a dry surface. Indian spinners ran through the Kiwis top-order as every batsman in the powerplay was dismissed cheaply trying to play unnecessary shots.

Hardik Pandya squeezed the run-scoring with three spinners and introduced Arshdeep Singh only in the latter half of the innings. The left-arm pacer didn't disappoint as well returning with the figures of 2/7 in his two overs. Mitchell Santner was the only batsman who got the timing as his 19 runs in the end helped NZ post 99 in 20 overs.

In response, Indian top order batters got off to starts, but were not able to convert as they lost the top three batters for 50 runs. However, the duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Washington Sundar withstood the spin threat in the middle overs. A terrible mix-up in the 15th over led to Washington Sundar’s run out and India were in trouble with 70/4 and 30 to get in last five overs.

Santner, on the other hand, put on a squeeze with spinners as he introduced the fifth bowling option in Chapman. Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav played with caution and patience to help India complete the tricky chase in last over as India levelled the series 1-1.
