The Men in Blue handed New Zealand a 3-0 sweep, claiming the number one spot in ODI rankings. All-round performance helped India beat New Zealand in the third ODI by a margin of 90 runs in the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.

Speaking about how the game panned out, New Zealand won the toss and sent India to bat first; the Indian openers got off to a flyer scoring runs all over the park with the tally of 212 runs for the first wicket inside 27 overs at a staggering run rate of around 8 per over. Both the openers reached their respective centuries in grand fashion.

Soon after, Michael Bracewell broke the partnership picking the wicket of Rohit for 101. Once the openers were sent back, wickets kept falling at regular intervals as India were reduced to 293/5 inside 40 overs. A gritty fifty from Hardik at the end along with a 25-run cameo from Thakur, helped India post huge total of 385/9 in 50 overs.

In response to 385, New Zealand lost Finn Allen in the second ball to Hardik Pandya. However, Devon Conway kept the chase going as he looked very much settled and toyed the Indian bowlers around the park to bring up his third century and also registering his highest ODI score of 138 with 12 fours and 8 maximums.

Conway was ably supported by the likes of Nicholls and Mitchell, as they had two good partnerships.  But it was Shardul Thakur who broke the good-going partnership picking up two wickets in two balls. From there on New Zealand batters never recovered as Indian bowlers ran through the lower order batters, eventually winning by margin of 90 runs.
