PBKS vs SRH - Latest IPL 2024 Points Table

Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) met each other in the 23rd match of IPL 2024 on Tuesday at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and chose to bowl first. SRH who were coming off some strong performances with the bat didn't have the start to the game they would have liked as they lost their three of their top-order batters in under five overs.

Hyderabad, who rely heavily on their top-order batters, wouldn't have been happy with the start they got. But it was young Nitish Reddy who took the responsibility on his shoulders to take them to a defendable target. Smashing his maiden fifty, Reddy scored 64 off 37 balls, including four boundaries and five sixes. Abdul Samad played a quickfire 25 in 12 balls.

On the bowling front, Arshdeep Singh kept taking wickets at regular intervals but leaked some runs in the final overs as the visitors finished 182/9. The lefty pacer was the best performer with the ball as he picked up four wickets. Sam Curran and Harshal Patel picked up two wickets respectively.

Coming to the chase, the hosts had a disastrous start as they lost their three of their batters inside the powerplay. Openers Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow couldn't provide them with the ideal start needed. Both Curran and Sikandar Raza played a decent knock of 29 and 28, but SRH bowlers kept the pressure by taking wickets.

But it were Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma who were the heroes for Punjab in their last encounter against Gujarat Titans yet again kept the hopes alive as they got their side back in the game. It was yet again a last-over thriller, but the Pat Cummins-led side had the last laugh as PBKS ended their innings at 180/6 and lost the game by just two runs.
