Lucknow Super Giants defeated Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets in IPL 2026 on May 15 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. CSK posted 187/5 in their 20 overs after the top order failed to deliver substantial contributions.
The middle order played a crucial role for CSK, with Kartik Sharma leading the fightback through a brilliant 71 off 42 balls. His innings included six fours and five sixes at an impressive strike rate of 169.05. He stitched together a valuable 70-run partnership in 44 balls for the fourth wicket with Dewald Brevis. After their dismissals, Shivam Dube and Prashant Veer provided the finishing touches. Dube remained unbeaten on 32 runs from just 16 balls to help CSK reach a competitive total. For LSG, Akash Maharaj Singh starred with the ball, claiming 3/26 in his four overs.
In reply, the hosts chased down the target comfortably in 16.4 overs, finishing at 188/3. Mitchell Marsh produced a destructive knock of 90 off 38 deliveries, smashing nine fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 236.84. He also shared a commanding 135-run opening partnership in just 70 balls with Josh Inglis, which laid the perfect foundation for the chase.
Nicholas Pooran then finished the game in style with an unbeaten 32 off 17 balls. CSK bowlers struggled to contain the aggressive batting display as the defeat pushed them down to sixth place in the standings, while LSG remained at the bottom of the table with four wins from 12 matches.
