In the 1st T20I match played between India and Ireland, there was an interruption due to rain, preventing the completion of the full match. As a result, the outcome was determined using the DLS Method, which calculates adjusted targets for the batting team. India clinched a narrow victory, triumphing by a mere two runs through the DLS method. With this win, India positions themselves to secure the series in the upcoming 2nd T20I, scheduled to take place on August 20th at the same venue, The Village in Dublin.

Jasprit Bumrah made an impressive comeback securing two wickets in his very first over. Following that, debutant Prasidh Krishna also took two wickets in consecutive overs. Spinner Ravi Bishnoi contributed by claiming two wickets as well, significantly disrupting the Ireland innings, which stood at a score of 59/6 in the 11th over. As a result, after 20 overs, Ireland's total score was 139/7.

From the Irish side, they had lost six wickets for just 59 runs. However, a partnership between Curtis Campher and Barry McCarthy, worth 57 runs, helped Ireland put up a fighting total of 139/7 after 20 overs. Curtis Campher contributed 39 runs in 33 balls, including three fours and a significant six, while Barry McCarthy played an impressive innings, smashing 51 runs off 33 balls, featuring four fours and four towering sixes. He achieved his fifty with a six. Notably, Barry McCarthy set a record as the first player to score a half-century from the number 8 position against India in T20I.

After the start of India's batting, Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a small cameo, scoring 24 runs off 23 balls, while Ruturaj Gaikwad got off to a good start with 19 runs in 16 balls, establishing a solid partnership of 46 runs for the first wicket. However, Craig Young continued his strong form against India from the previous series, taking back-to-back wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 24 runs, and Tilak Varma, who was dismissed without scoring (on a duck). Following this, rain interrupted the game, leading to the match being called off with India adjudged the winner on the basis of the DLS method.
