Jasprit Bumrah's Test milestone: Fastest Indian pacer to 150 Test wickets

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah delivered a stunning bowling performance, helping India secure a commanding 171-run lead against England. Early in the game, England were in a comfortable position at 123/2; however, Bumrah's onslaught hit them hard. He dismissed Joe Root and Ollie Pope in quick intervals, shifting the momentum in India's favour. Although Bairstow tried to rebuild, Bumrah picked him up for 25 runs, and Kuldeep Yadav added further damage by dismissing Ben Foakes and Rehan Ahmed for 6 each. Bumrah then halted the momentum of Stokes, dismissing him for 47 runs. 

The 30-year-old didn't stop there, continuing to pick up James Anderson and Tom Hartley as England were bowled out for 253, leaving India with a lead of 143 runs. At the end of the day, Rohit Sharma and Jaiswal stood firm at the crease, extending India's lead to 171 runs. 

Jasprit Bumrah becomes fastest Indian pacer to 150 Test wickets 

Bumrah also etched his name in history by becoming the fastest Indian pacer to reach 150 Test wickets, achieving the feat in only 34 matches. He achieved this feat by dismissing England skipper Ben Stokes with a well-executed cutter delivery that left the batsman out bowled. Notably, Bumrah had reached the 100-wicket mark in Tests against England itself, back in 2021, taking only 24 matches. This time, it took him just 10 more matches to add another 50 wickets to his tally, showcasing his remarkable consistency and impact.

53 - Bumrah completed 50 Test wickets against England, furthermore he has now taken 53 Test wickets against England, making him the third-highest wicket-taker among Indian pacers in Tests against England, behind Kapil Dev (85) and Ishant Sharma (67). 

2 - Bumrah becomes the second-fastest Asian pacer to reach 150 Test wickets, achieving this feat in 34 matches. Waqar Younis holds the record as the fastest Asian pacer, reaching the milestone in 27 matches. 

3 - Bumrah's 6/45 scripted his third-best bowling performance in Test cricket. His best remains 6/27 against West Indies at Kingston in 2019, followed by 6/33 against Australia at Melbourne in 2018 

3 - Jasprit Bumrah completed his 10th five-wicket haul, and becomes the joint-third Indian pacer with the most 5-wicket hauls in Tests. He shares this record with Javagal Srinath, both having achieved it 10 times. The record for the most 5-wicket hauls by an Indian pacer is held by Kapil Dev with 23, followed by Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma, both with 11. 

6/45 - Jasprit Bumrah's 6/45 marks his new best bowling figures in an innings on home soil (India). The previous best was 5/24 against Sri Lanka in 2022 at Bangalore.
