New Zealand scripted history by defeating South Africa 2-0 in the two-match Test series. This marked the first time that New Zealand won a Test series against South Africa in 92 years. South Africa, in an effort to ensure a smooth running of SA20, sent a second-string side to tour New Zealand for the World Test Championship. However, the decision proved too costly as the inexperience could not withstand New Zealand's dominance, resulting in a 2-0 series loss.
Kane Williamson emerged as the key player for New Zealand, wreaking havoc upon the South African bowlers throughout the series. He scored three centuries, including a twin ton and a 43 in his four innings. Additionally, Rachin Ravindra proved effective with both bat and ball, scoring a double century in the first game while also picking up four wickets in another Tests.
