Netherlands (NED) and Afghanistan (AFG) are set to face each other for the first time in the ODI World Cup. The match is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The Netherlands has been performing admirably in this tournament and is in contention for a spot in the semi-finals. In their last match, the Dutchmen defeated Bangladesh by 87 runs. In the batting department, captain Edwards contributed with a half-century, scoring 68 runs, and the senior player Barresi added 41 runs, which helped them reach a competitive total of 229 runs. In the bowling department, Paul van Meekeren took 4 wickets, and Bas de Leede claimed 2 wickets, which led to Bangladesh being bowled out for just 142 runs.

In the batting department, Afghanistan chased down the target quite easily with the help of three half-centuries. Rahmat Shah scored 62 runs, captain Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 58 runs, and Omarzai's power-hitting added 73 runs to seal the match with a 7-wicket victory.

Both teams will be eager to win this match to stay in the tournament and compete for a spot in the semi-finals.
