Pat Cummins had a forgettable day, conceding 41 runs and taking just one wicket.

Chasing 216, Australia successfully mounted a chase. Travis Head fell for a 15-ball 24, but David Warner (32) and Mitchell Marsh (72) steadied the ship with a 40-run partnership. Mitchell Santner dismissed the dangerous Warner, but Marsh held firm, reaching his fifty off 44 balls. Quickfire knocks from Glenn Maxwell (25 off 11) and Josh Inglis (20 off 20) kept the momentum going. Needing 12 runs off 3 balls, Tim David slammed a six, a two, and a last-ball four to seal a thrilling six-wicket victory for Australia. Tim David remained unbeaten on 31 off 10 balls at a phenomenal strike rate of 310. Mitchell Marsh, for his crucial all-round performance (72 & 1/21), deservedly won the Player of the Match.
