Pakistan humiliated Hong Kong by dismissing them for just 38, their lowest total in T20 internationals, eventually winning Match 6 of Asia Cup 2022 by a mammoth margin of 155 runs in Sharjah. Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman struck half-centuries as Pakistan reached a huge total of 193/2 while Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz spun their web to pick seven wickets in between them to bundle out the opposition in just 10.4 overs.

Speaking about how the one-sided encounter panned out, skipper Nizakat Khan won the toss and elected to field first. Pakistan captain Babar Azam suffered back-to-back low scores as he got out for just nine runs. Rizwan and Zaman stitched a solid 116-run partnership as they kept the scoreboard ticking for their side. Left-handed batter Zaman got dismissed for 53 off 41 while Khushdil Shah played a blitz innings of 35 off just 15 which included five maximums. Rizwan remained unbeaten on 78 off 57 with six fours and a six. Spinner Ehsan Khan continued his great form as he picked up 2/28 in his four-over spell.

Chasing 193, Hong Kong looked clueless in their innings as not a single player reached the double-figure mark. Pacer Naseem Shah impressed yet again with his spell of 2/7 in two overs. Spinners Shadab and Nawaz then dismantled Hong Kong’s batting line-up with their outstanding piece of spin bowling. Leggie Shadab registered his career-best figures of 4/8 while Nawaz took 3/5 in just two overs.

With this, Hong Kong are eliminated while Pakistan have booked yet another meeting with arch-rivals team India in Match 2 of the Super 4 round on Sunday, September 04, 2022. For his valuable and match-winning knock of 78, Mohammad Rizwan grabbed the Player-of-the-Match award.
