Team India and Bangladesh are well into the first Test of the ongoing series between both sides. The first match began on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, and the game saw India come in to bat first. However, the hosts found themselves in a spot of bother after the top order collapsed.

The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill were dismissed early, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant stabilising the innings. However, the highlight of the day were the knocks played by Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

Pulling India out of a precarious position, Ashwin scored 102* runs, whereas Jadeja added 86* runs on the board by the end of Day 1, as India posted a score of 339/6 runs. Furthermore, with his century on Day 1, Ravichandran Ashwin set a world record as well.

The veteran all-rounder became the first cricketer in history to have scored 20-plus fifty plus scores along with claiming 30-plus five wicket hauls in Test cricket. In the 147-year history of Test cricket, Ashwin is the only cricketer to achieve such a feat, and it only goes to show how valuable an all-rounder he has been for team India over the years in the longest format.

It is also worth noting that Ashwin has four centuries in Tests from position number eight or below. Former New Zealand all-rounder Daniel Vettori holds the record for the most number of centuries while batting from number eight or below with five.

As for the game, Bangladesh did a good job in limiting India at the start of Day 2. Ashwin departed for a score of 113 runs, with Akash Deep adding 17 runs on the board and Jasprit Bumrah adding seven. In the first innings, India posted a total of 376 runs and will hope to put in a good performance with the ball as well.
