Two most successful teams in Asia Cup history, one team with seven titles, India, and another team with six titles Sri Lanka will meet each other in the fourth game of the Super Four of the Super 11 Asia Cup 2023 on September 12 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

India will be coming into the contest on the back of an emphatic win over their arch-rivals Pakistan by a massive margin of 228 runs. In a rain-hit game that went on to a reserve day, Team India scored a humungous total of 356/2 with all the top four batters scoring more than fifties. Rohit Sharma and Gill registered yet another century partnership for the opening wicket as both were dismissed after scoring fifties.

Virat Kohli registered his 77th century and also became the fastest batter to complete 13000 runs in ODI and he did it in 267 innings 54 innings faster than Sachin Tendulkar’s tally while KL Rahul announced his return with a magnificent hundred. In the bowling department, Kuldeep Yadav was brilliant picking up five wickets, becoming the second Indian to register a five-wicket haul for India in the Asia Cup ODI. India will look to continue their winning momentum in order to confirm their final berth.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will be heading into the game on the back of a solid 2023, winning 13 consecutive ODIs. They not only won 13 games but did it in grand fashion, bowling out the opponents on all 13 occasions. Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama are their go-to batters, Mendis registered back-to-back fifties in the last two games scoring 92 and 50, respectively while Samarawickrama has also scored back-to-back fifties against Bangladesh 54 and 93, respectively.

Both their openers have been brilliant with the starts but were not able to convert the starts they had. In the bowling department, all the bowlers have performed well when it mattered the most, Kasun Rajitha picked up four wickets against Afghanistan while the trio of Theekshana Pathirana and Shanaka all picked up three wickets each in a 21-run win against Bangladesh. Dunith Wellalage has shown his all-round potential with both bat and ball, coming in as a replacement for injured Hasaranga. Sri Lanka too will look to continue their winning streak so as to confirm their final berth.
