Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik registered his 15th duck in the Indian Premier League in the ongoing clash against Delhi Capitals (DC). Both franchises went against each other in match 20 of the IPL 2023 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, April 15.

Upon winnings the toss, David Warner decided to field as the opening duo of Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis got their team off to a brisk start. However, soon after du Plessis' dismissal, Kohli shifted gears and notched up half-century off 33 balls.

However, RCB lost wickets at regular intervals, with Kohli, Mahipal Lomror and Glenn Maxwell losing their wickets for 50, 26 and 24 runs, respectively. The team pinned their hopes on seasoned wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik to deliver the goods and get the side to a competitive total.

However, Kuldeep Yadav, who had just taken Maxwell’s scalp, got his second in the form of Karthik on the very next ball. Kuldeep bowled a googly which the keeper-batter tried to swat over midwicket, but he ended up mistiming the ball to hand an easy grab to Lalit Yadav, who was fielding at deep mid-wicket.

With 15 ducks, Karthik tops the charts in the unwanted list of players with the most ducks in the history of the IPL. The batter got level with Mandeep Singh for the joint-first place, followed by Rohit Sharma and Sunil Narine (14 each).

DC require 175 to clinch first win

Shahbaz Ahmed and Anuj Rawat (Impact Player) notched up 20 and 15 runs respectively towards the final few overs to help RCB post 174 runs. Meanwhile, Kuldeep and Mitchell Marsh got two wickets apiece whereas Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav got one wicket each in the innings.

David Warner and Co. will look to give the rival side a run for their money to stay well on course in the run chase while the home team would hope to not leak too many runs as they did in the previous outing against LSG, which led to their massive loss.
