Cricket West Indies on Saturday, December 18 announced that they are all set to start a new recruitment process for the new Men’s Selection Panel in the month of January. Lead Selector Roger Harper and fellow Selector Miles Bascombe’s contract ends on December 31. With no plans for their contracts to be renewed, CWI decided to start the recruitment process to replace both of them.

Head Coach Phil Simmons and the captains in the respective men’s formats have established an interim selection panel. CWI’s Director of Cricket Jimmy Adams is expected to examine the entire process. Opening up on it he thanked the previous authorities for their services. He highlighted the challenges that the role brings in and appreciated both Roger and Miles for their contributions.

“We want to thank Roger and Miles for their work and dedicated services to West Indies cricket in the last two years, as members of the Men’s Senior Selection Panel. Selecting West Indies teams for the international competition is a very challenging and thankless assignment, and both gentlemen performed their roles with unprecedented transparency and dignity,” CWI’s Director of Cricket Jimmy Adams said as quoted in the press release by Windies cricket.

“I would like to thank CWI for the opportunity to serve West Indies cricket in the role of Lead Selector and I wish the organization the very best for the future. I would also like to thank all those whose efforts and cooperation helped me to perform my role efficiently. Special thanks to Miles for his professionalism and teamwork. God bless,” Lead Selector Roger Harper asserted.

West Indies next assignment is against Ireland

West Indies is all set to take on the challenge against Ireland at Sabina Park, Jamaica. The teams are scheduled to play three-match CG Insurance One-Day International Series starting from January 8. Whereas on the other hand, the one-off T20 international is staged for January 16.

Recently, the team had locked horns with the Babar Azam-led side wherein they were whitewashed by the hosts. Pakistan dominated the proceedings to win the three-match T20I series 3-0 against West Indies. Thus the team will be raring to move on from this defeat and bring a shift in their fortunes.
