The date of 17th September belongs to that of India’s ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin as former cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag wished the best spinner in Tests on his 31st birthday. Ashwin is currently serving his stint in Worcestershire in England.
It is a matter a great travesty that the day also belongs to the India vs Australia 5-match ODI series opener at Ashwin’s home ground in Chepauk Stadium, Chennai and the birthday boy cannot be part of the mega event.
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to send his birthday wishes to the premier Indian offie. “Not just cricket, a champ at “carrom” too!? Happy birthday, @ashwinravi99! Hope you are enjoying your county stint!” captioned Ashwin’s tweet.

Ome of the most respected cricket analyst and commentator, Harsha Bhogle in his recent video for Cricbuzz wished Ashwin on his special day.
“I see Ravichandran Ashwin and I see a fantastic cricketer and also a mind which is always ticking. Here is a mind which is constantly at work. Ashwin’s mind asks ‘what’s the batsman going to do next and how can I do one step better’. Sometimes, I believe it is the mind which is one step ahead of Ashwin.” claimed Bhogle in the video. He further stated that Ashwin might be at the crossroads of his limited-overs career.
“Congratulations Ashwin at the peak of his international career at the Test level but at the crossroads in the ODI cricket,” concluded Harsha Bhogle.
