Cricketing trends in Twitter today saw English cricketers Alec Stewart, Ryan Sidebottom, Michael Vaughan all paid their tribute to the fallen soldiers on Armistice Day. The Armistice Day falls each year on 11 November to mark the day in 1918 when the fighting in World War One was stopped. In India, Alastair Cook and the rest of the England players also observed a minute’s silence in the morning prior to the start of the first session’s play. The cricketers wore poppies as a mark of respect. The poppy is something that is usually worn by the citizens of the United Kingdom to pay respects to those who had lost their lives in the first World War and also to those who generally have laid down their lives for the good of the country.
