The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. Most of the talks were surrounding the last league game of the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) between the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The game was supposed to decide the fourth spot-holder in the table for the playoffs. Along with David Warner’s Orange Army, Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) also fought for the position.
Irfan Pathan lauded Shahbaz Nadeem and Sandeep Sharma, who both have been impressive in the bowling department. In Rawalpindi, Pakistan lost the third and final ODI against Zimbabwe after the game went into the Super Over. Babar Azam scored 125 runs off as many deliveries with 13 fours and a six, but he got out to Blessing Muzarabani in the penultimate over of Pakistan’s run-chase.
Kamran Akmal was all praises on the 25-year-old Babar, who became the third-fastest to 12 ODI tons after Australia’s Meg Lanning and South Africa’s Quinton de Kock. Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues seemed excited for the 2020 edition of the Women’s T20 Challenge.
She will be turning out for Supernovas in their first match against Velocity, led by Mithali Raj, at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Last year, Rodrigues was the leading run-scorer for the tournament with a top score of an unbeaten 77 versus Velocity itself. She will be looking for another decent show.
