The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. Most of the talks were regarding the first day’s play for the opening Test between India and England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After the Brits won the toss and elected to bat first, the hosts had to play out of their skin to pick up wickets. Dominic Sibley and Rory Burns got the Brits off to a steady start with a partnership of 63 runs from 23.5 overs.
Ravi Ashwin got rid of Burns after which Jasprit Bumrah accounted for Daniel Lawrence’s wicket. From there it was one-way traffic in England’s favour. Root carried on from where he left in Sri Lanka. He celebrated his 100th Test with a century. He was circumspect, to begin with, but once he got the measure of the conditions, he milked the Indian bowling without dropping much sweat. He was showered with wishes from every nook and corner of the cricket fraternity.
Kevin Pietersen, the former England cricketer, felt that Indian skipper Virat Kohli missed Ravindra Jadeja’s services on the first day. Michael Vaughan, another former Brits’ cricketer, was baffled after India left out Kuldeep Yadav from the playing eleven for the ongoing Test. Buvneshwar Kumar celebrated his birthday and he was showered with wishes from his teammates.

The pitch condition in cheupak stadium is not for my liking at all. Not turning enough to trouble the batsmen. Had thought India will look to take the home advantage but it's not the case. We have an interesting game on our hands #INDvENG
