The entire world has erupted following the tragic death of George Floyd. His death has sparked many violent protests, especially in the United States. Furthermore, many players have opened up against racism across the world. Many a time, players have also been at the receiving end of racial abuse.

ICC also shared their views on racism in cricket and the apex council affirmed its stand against racism. ICC shared a video of Jofra Archer’s Super Over of 2019 World Cup final and stated that cricket is nothing without diversity. So far, many players have come forward to speak against racism. Sachin Tendulkar also shared ICC’s video and cited Nelson Mandela to speak up against racism.

Meanwhile, India international Ajinkya Rahane turned 32 as he celebrated his birthday on Saturday. The middle-order batsman is a vital cog of India’s Test side. Skipper Virat Kohli and his limited-overs deputy Rohit Sharma extended wishes to Rahane. In 65 Tests and 90 ODIs for India, Rahane has amassed 4203 and 2962 runs respectively.

A unique hashtag also trended on Twitter. #RespectAllCricketersOnTwitter was one of the top trends as fans came forward in support of players. There have been many incidents when a player has been trolled mercilessly for his poor performances. Due to social media, a player gets bashed and trolled in no time these days. Trolling cricketers instantly spreads negativity across social media and hence, many fans pledged to spread positivity on Twitter.
