The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. The third day of the fourth Test between India and Australia took place at The Gabba in Brisbane. Though the visiting team, led by Ajinkya Rahane, conceded a lead of 33 runs, they were showered with praises, especially due to the resilience showed by their batters lower down the batting order. Their batsmen showed grit and character.
Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar put on a partnership of 123 runs for the seventh wicket. Thakur showed the damage he can do with the bat in hand, scoring 67 runs with nine fours and two sixes. He was aggressive to the extent that he brought up his half-century with a massive six over the long-on region. He didn’t mind using his feet to the veteran off-spin bowler Nathan Lyon.
On Saturday, Hardik and Krunal Pandya’s father Himanshu passed away due to a cardiac arrest. Krunal had to leave the bio-secure bubble of Baroda. Before leaving, he took Baroda to the top of the point. Abhinav Mukund feels that T Natarajan can be proud of himself after making his debut for Team India across formats. Brad Hogg reckons that Australia are favourites to win the Brisbane Test.

8. Ian Bell impressed with the fight Sri Lanka put up in the Galle Test
Great fight from Sri Lanka. They’ll be kicking themselves with how bad they played first innings. Feels like it’s on a knife-edge now. Either Eng will break through & chase a small total or SL could put on a nice little chase on day 5. What’s everyone thinking? #SLvENG

10. Shahid Afridi wants Pakistan batters to score runs at the international level
Lot of 100s in Pakistan Cup, good to see batsmen scoring quick runs. The game remains same at international level, these batsmen have to learn to play fearless cricket with big heart to succeed there. Hope to see these batsmen perform at international level too. https://t.co/IZuimhRkhq

11. Sanjay Manjrekar praises Shardul Thakur
We have seen late order resistance before, we have seen long partnerships for the 7th wicket before but don’t think we have seen such quality of shots played by a no 8 and 9 before! Absolutely sensational batting from Washy & Shardul.
Tumhaala maanla! 😉#AUSvsIND— Sanjay Manjrekar (@sanjaymanjrekar) January 17, 2021
12. Virender Sehwag reminisces India’s Test win over Australia in Adelaide back in 2003
Adelaide 2003 : India conceded a lead of 33. Today in Brisbane India concede 33 , when at one stage it looked like they may end up conceding 133.
Great effort considering that Australia’s 4 bowlers had more than 1000 Test wickets to India’s 5 bowlers having 11. Shandar Zabardast— Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag) January 17, 2021
