The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. On Tuesday, the 2020 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was scrapped in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, which has been spewing venom across the globe. The semi-finals were scheduled to be played on Tuesday itself, but the adversity of the situation forced the authorities to call of the tournament. Multan Sultans, led by Shan Masood and the Sohail Akhtar-captained Lahore Qalandars qualified for the semis for the maiden time and they would be disappointed after not getting a chance of going all the way through and win the title.
Chris Jordan was delighted after getting to represent the Karachi Kings, so was Mohammad Hafeez, who donned the Qalandars’ jersey and played some useful hands at critical stages. Shadab Khan, the captain of the Islamabad United, understands the reasons behind the decision surrounding the PSL. The United, the three-time champions, failed to qualify for the semis. The likes of Babar Azam, Junaid Khan and a number of others also left heart warming messages for the PSL.
The South African team left India after their ODI series was cancelled due to the coronavirus. Rassie van der Dussen posted a picture with Faf du Plessis and bid India goodbye. The Proteas coach Mark Boucher reckons that the netizens should give up using mobile phones in the global lockdown at least for the next couple of weeks.
