It is now time to take a sneak peep into the social media handles of cricketers to delve into what they were up to today. Today is an extremely special day for all Sri Lankan cricket fans. 17th March 2021, marks the 25th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s sensational World Cup triumph against the mighty Australians.
The Arjuna Ranatunga led side cantered home with 7 wickets to spare in the 1996 World Cup final to emerge as the World Champions. And, a number of Sri Lankan cricketing legends, including the likes of Mahela Jayawardene, Sanath Jayasuriya, Chaminda Vaas, and Rangana Herath have tweeted about the biggest moment in the history of Sri Lankan cricket. In fact, Dhammika Prasad also caught up with the legendary Sanath Jayasuriya on the 25th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s World Cup victory.
Also, the England side thrashed the Indian side by 8 wickets in the third T20I on 16th March 2021. KL Rahul has failed to get going in all the three matches he has played in the series thus far, and Wasim Jaffer has tweeted about Rahul’s form. The 3rd T20I also saw Eoin Morgan playing his 100th T20I match, and Jos Buttler has some heartwarming words for the England skipper. And finally, today is also the 31st birthday of badminton superstar Saina Nehwal. And, the likes of Suresh Raina and Irfan Pathan have wished Nehwal on her special day.
