The cricketing trends on social media today revolved around India’s victory in Antigua and Ben Stokes‘ heroics in the third Ashes Test at Headingley. Many of the former and current cricketers still failed to come to terms with what happened in Leeds. Stokes scored 135* runs and stitched a last-wicket partnership of 76* runs with Jack Leach to help England gun down a record chase of 359 runs and kept the Ashes alive.
India, on the same day, thrashed the Windies by 318 runs in the first of the two-match Test series in Antigua. They had set 419 runs for the home side to win. But the Jason Holder-side was folded for just 100 runs in the second innings with Jasprit Bumrah returning with the figures of 5/7. Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Aakash Chopra were delighted after the victory and expressed their elation on their respective official Twitter handles.
New Zealand also won the second Test against Sri Lanka to level the series in Colombo. They extended their lead to 187 runs on the final day and then had 90 overs to bowl Sri Lanka out. The home side were reduced to 32/5 in the first session itself but then Dimuth Karunaratne and Niroshan Dickwella delayed the inevitable for a while and the latter kept the fight going only to lose his wicket with 15 minutes to go when the umpires start to consider the lights.
Sri Lanka were bundled out for 122 runs in the second innings and lost the game by an innings and 65 runs and lost a great opportunity to win the series.

3. Mandhana’s inspiration
There are so many in this world who touch our lives in so many ways with just their mere presence. @serenawilliams has been that person for me since I was a little dreamy-eyed kid. On Equality Day, I would like to thank her for inspiring me to chase my dreams. #HerSportsStory

7. Compton wants Carey to play
How Alex Carey does not play is beyond me.. better than Wade and Paine. The ball reverses in England and especially on the dry wickets and surfaces we find on modern grounds – Starc is a must! #ashes

13. Chopra tells about World Test Championship
Playing fewer Tests in the World Test Championship should be a bad thing….but it isn’t. On the contrary, it’s an advantage. India beating WI fetched them 60 points. England beating Australia in #TheAshes got them 24 points. Go figure.
