The fourth match of this year’s Indian Premier League was nothing short of a run-scoring fest where Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals slammed sixes for fun. After putting RR to bat first, CSK witnessed Sanju Samson’s carnage. The Kerala stalwart slammed 74 off just 32 deliveries to decimate CSK’s bowling force. He stitched his knock around 9 sixes and a four.
Smith also played a vital 69-run knock to keep the scoreboard ticking. In the end, it was Jofra Archer who stole the show by slamming a quick-fire cameo of 27 runs. Twitter also lauded the speedster after he smashed Lungi Ngidi for 4 sixes.
In response, no CSK batsman apart from Faf du Plessis could manage to trouble RR bowlers. At a time when the required run-rate was soaring, the South African smacked 3 sixes off Jaydev Unadkat to keep his side in the contest. But after his departure in the penultimate over, it was all over for the Yellow Army. Dhoni did enthral his fans by smacking three consecutive sixes in the 20th over but CSK eventually lost the encounter by 16 runs.
Twitter heaped praise on Samson, who single-handedly changed the tide in RR’s favour. Archer and Faf du Plessis were also lauded for their batting heroics. It was a memorable outing for the Rajasthan side, who were without their star wicketkeeper-batsman– Jos Buttler. Both CSK and RR have now registered victories in their opening IPL 2020 encounters.
1. Wishes pour in for Sanju Samson after his explosive knock
After Devdutt Padikkal’s brilliance in Dubai yesterday, it was the sensational Sanju Samson show in Sharjah today. A good couple of days for Kerala-born batsmen then. Not surprising – we’re in the UAE after all! #IPL20

2. Hemang Badani congratulates RR over their triumph
217 was a little too many. Two of CSK's best bowlers from the last game Chawla and Ngidi went for 111 off 8 overs. To add to it, the batting order didn't help either. Feel bad for FAF. Well played @rajasthanroyals. Sanju Samson looked in smashing form #RRvCSK

3. Pragyan Ojha lauds Faf du Plessis for his impressive knock
How good was @faf1307 to keep #CSK in the hunt? #CSK would've even pulled off a heist, if not for those late runs from #Archer. All in all, a superb outing for #RR, who have made a great start to their tournament being led by @stevesmith49 from the front.#ProGyaan #RRvCSK

15. Aakash Chopra reacts to MS Dhoni’s decision to go with Piyush Chawla
First over for 28 runs. Few would go to the same bowler for the second over in the same spell. Dhoni has. Interesting…. #Piyush #RRvCSK
