The fifth match of IPL 2020 turned out to be ‘The Rohit Sharma Show’ where defending champions Mumbai Indians defeated Dinesh Karthik-led Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs. They also opened their tally in the points table by clinching their first victory in IPL 2020.
After being put to bat first, MI suffered an early blow in the form of Quinton de Kock. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit continued to score runs at a brisk rate. Rohit, weaving his knock around a flurry of boundaries, slammed an impressive half-century to lay the foundation for his side.
Twitter lauded Rohit for his stellar 80-run knock. He slammed 6 sixes in his knock, becoming the second Indian player after MS Dhoni to achieve the milestone of hitting 200 sixes in the tournament.
Coming on to KKR’s run-chase, skipper Karthik (30) and Nitish Rana (24) did try to build a stable partnership in the middle. However, the soaring required run-rate eventually led to KKR’s batting collapse. After the dismissal of Rana and Karthik, KKR fell down like a stack of cards, handing a —- victory to the Mumbai franchise. Pat Cummins did provide the Knight Riders with some entertainment after he smashed four sixes off Bumrah in the 18th over.
Along with Rohit, Twitter also praised Bumrah for scalping the wickets of Morgan and Russell in a single over. The speedster’s scalps played a vital role in turning the tide completely in the favour of Rohit and his men. Fans also trolled Hardik Pandya after he was dismissed hit wicket off Andre Russell’s delivery. Hardik, who was standing deep in the crease, tried to drive the ball but hit the stumps in the process.
1. RP Singh lauds MI’s bowling force

It’s certain that @KKRiders will not be able to cross the finishing line. They should try and make sure that they shouldn’t loose the game with a big margin. If they do it might haunt them in the later stage of the tournament.#ProGyaan #IPL2020 #KKRvMI
